Sunroom in Aurora, Colorado
A Colorado Outdoor Builders project · Aurora, CO
This Aurora sunroom is a gable-roof addition with glass on three sides, a vaulted wood ceiling and a stone base.
What we built
- A gable roof tied into the house, with glass that runs all the way up into the peak
- A vaulted tongue-and-groove wood ceiling with a center beam
- Tall black-framed windows over painted panel knee walls, in a color that matches the house siding
- A stone base along the bottom of the addition
- A glass entry door with a transom window
- Electrical outlets built into the knee walls
- Gutters and downspouts that match the house
Building a sunroom in Aurora
A sunroom (also called a four-season room or solarium) is a heated, insulated room you can use all year. Aurora treats a sunroom as a room addition, so it needs a building permit and footings below the frost line, which is 36 inches in Aurora. See our Aurora page for more on local rules.
Wondering how it compares to a screen room? Read Screen Room vs. Sunroom, or see why a sunroom costs more.
