Patio Covers, Pergolas & Decks in Erie, CO

Erie's newer neighborhoods offer great views and plenty of afternoon sun. We build custom patio covers, pergolas, screen rooms, and decks that add shade and living space, and we handle Town of Erie permits and HOA design review so you don't have to.

Building a Patio Cover, Pergola or Deck in Erie: What to Know

Permits in Erie come from the Town of Erie Building Division through its Building Division Service portal. Erie's building codes and design criteria page lists a 30 psf ground snow load, a 142 mph design wind speed and a 30-inch frost depth.

When you need a permit:

  • Decks, patio covers and pergolas: Erie has a dedicated "Decks, Patios, and Pergola" page with the town's requirements. Plan on a permit for attached covers and most decks.
  • Screen rooms and sunrooms: enclosing a patio adds enclosed space and goes through building permit review.

High wind, shallower frost line. Erie's 142 mph design wind speed is higher than much of the Denver metro, so post bases, beam connections and roof fastening need to be sized for it. Its 30-inch frost depth is a little shallower than the 36 inches used in many nearby cities.

Erie requires every contractor to hold a current Town of Erie license and have a certificate of insurance on file before a permit is issued. Erie was on the 2021 codes as of its last posted update, so confirm the current code and requirements with the Building Division before you build.

Built for Colorado's Climate, Permitted for Your City.

Colorado's intense UV, heavy spring snow loads, hail, and rapid freeze-thaw cycles demand structures engineered specifically for the Front Range. Our patio covers, pergolas, screen rooms, and decks are built with materials and fastening methods rated for these conditions, so your outdoor shade structure holds up season after season.

Each municipality, from Denver to Aurora, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Lakewood, Littleton, Centennial, and Highlands Ranch, has its own permitting rules, setback requirements, and HOA design standards. Our team handles the paperwork and inspections so homeowners don't have to navigate it alone.
