Patio Covers, Pergolas & Decks in Castle Rock, CO

From The Meadows to Crystal Valley Ranch, Castle Rock homes sit at a higher elevation with intense sun and heavy spring snow. We build custom patio covers, pergolas, screen rooms, and decks engineered for those conditions, and we manage Town of Castle Rock permits and HOA architectural review.

Building a Patio Cover, Pergola or Deck in Castle Rock: What to Know

Permits in Castle Rock come from the town's Development Services Building Division (720-733-3527) through eTRAKiT. The town's 2026 code ordinance adopts the 2024 International Codes, including IRC Appendix H for patio covers, along with the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code.

Snow load depends on elevation. Under that ordinance, ground and roof snow loads are 30 psf below 6,000 feet, 35 psf from 6,000 to 6,499 feet and 40 psf from 6,500 to 7,000 feet, and they can't be reduced. Castle Rock spans all three bands, so we check your lot's elevation before we design. Wind is 115 mph and frost depth is 36 inches.

When you need a permit:

  • Covered decks and patios: a permit is required, and roof truss calculations must be signed by a Colorado-registered design professional.
  • Uncovered decks: submittals must show setbacks.
  • Small sheds: exempt up to 120 sq ft.

Contractors must hold a current Castle Rock contractor registration before starting work. Call the Building Division at 720-733-3527 to confirm current code and requirements for your project.

Colorado's intense UV, heavy spring snow loads, hail, and rapid freeze-thaw cycles demand structures engineered specifically for the Front Range. Our patio covers, pergolas, screen rooms, and decks are built with materials and fastening methods rated for these conditions, so your outdoor shade structure holds up season after season.

Each municipality, from Denver to Aurora, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Lakewood, Littleton, Centennial, and Highlands Ranch, has its own permitting rules, setback requirements, and HOA design standards.
